Kev (accordion, vocals, loud shirts and stamping) has played in a variety of bands
over the years (punk/rock, country/western swing, soul, blues, folk) as well as
being a solo folk performer. Most of his musical experience has been abroad and
he’s thrilled both to be playing, for the first time, in a band in his home county of
Kent and to have met fellow musicians who want to share his dream of putting a
Zydeco band together.
Derek (bass guitar, acoustic guitar, backing vocals) Bought bass guitar as
teenager, played in local rock bands. Recently introduced to Zydeco & invited
to join Jumbo Gumbo – which he did!
Dave (guitar, mandolin, backing vocals) has steadily expanded his musical
horizons to embrace world rhythms and ambience whilst retaining his musical
roots. He has long been involved in music performance - as a solo artist, country
rock band Pekoe Orange and leading the highly versatile and hugely popular
Hurlimann Brothers – World music, African, Celtic, Blues and Jazz, and now, of
course, playing Zydeco with Jumbo Gumbo!
Pete (vocals, percussion and more loud shirts) formerly of The 2-38s, only took up
his dream of singing at the age of 50 (not saying how old he - is but he's been
singing for four years!) Now fitting more than comfortably with Zydeco music.
Tony (drums and percussion) first played drums in a cadet band (XX years ago)
then to the progressive rock of the 70s. Taking a long rest he is now enjoying
the different flavour of Zydeco
